PC World columnist Steve Bass offers weekly tips and strategies for home-office denizens.

Randy Ross

Have a big home-office staff? Sure you do: You have a couple of dogs and the FedEx delivery person sometimes stops to chat. And what about that round-the-clock IS staff to handle your computing emergencies?

Steve Bass, a long-standing PC World columnist, feels your pain and frustration. So we're introducing Steve Bass's Home Office, a free weekly newsletter from one of our most popular writers. Delivered every Wednesday, his snappy commentary covers high-tech products, strategies for getting the most out of them, and the "gotchas" that can cause you computing misery.

Bass will cover a variety of topics, ranging from broadband (how to live with it) to Windows Me (how to live without it) to digital video (how to justify it to your spouse or boss). Coming up first: time-saving keyboard shortcuts and smart strategies for avoiding data disasters.

A ten-year veteran of PC World, Bass writes the magazine's popular Home Office column. In addition, he is a frequent Air Talk computer correspondent on KPCC-FM, an NPR affiliate in Pasadena, California. He is also the president of the Pasadena IBM Users Group, a 2400-member organization of computing professionals in Southern California.
