Dell P992

With a Sony Trinitron picture tube, the Dell P992 provided strong picture quality for both text and graphics, with colors that looked true to life and text that was sharp and clear. The P992 provides plenty of image adjustment options, including controls for vertical and horizontal moiré adjustment, which can help get rid of the rippled pattern that you sometimes see on images with closely spaced lines. The P992's maximum resolution of 1920 by 1440 is the highest we've seen for a 19-inch monitor (it's tied with five other models we've reviewed).
At $429, this monitor is on the expensive side, although the price is comparable with prices of Sony models bearing similar features. Instead of a printed manual, this unit comes with only a four-page setup guide. However, Dell does provide some good documentation on the included CD-ROM and on its Web site.
The P992 has the same slate-gray casing that most Dell desktop systems use, so it would look good next to a Dell PC.
Although it is fairly expensive, the P992 would appeal to serious graphics users who need fine control of their images.
