EVGA E-GeForce4 MX 440
EVGA's E-GeForce4 MX 440 received the highest image quality scores in this round of testing, beating even the top-of-the-line power cards. In all of our test games we saw beautiful contrast and colors that practically popped off the screen. We saw extensive detail in Quake III, excellent contrast and lighting in Unreal Tournament, and vivid colors in TrueSpace 3D modeling tests.Installation was tricky: The program tried to install AGP chip set drivers, despite the fact that ours were already loaded and up to date; then, it launched into a separate program and informed us that our drivers were up to date. To install the graphics card drivers, we had to reinsert the CD and manually run the installation program again.
Those who want added features should look elsewhere, as this card has little in the way of bundled software or hardware. Most cards at this price offer such extras as overclocking and color-calibration software, as well as composite-out.
The EVGA E-GeForce4 MX 440 is a fine card for those seeking excellent performance and no frills.
