Enterprise Develops a Taste for Apples

More and more, businesses are adopting a diet that includes plenty of Apples.

You should have seen the grin spread across my face when I saw Gregg Keizer’s Computerworld article, "Businesses double down on Apple; 68% say they'll add Macs in '09." My family, friends and much of my readership know I'm a huge Mac fan. And while Apple has been making some gains in the home market over that past few years with their funny ads and by word of mouth, apparently more businesses are now hungry enough to take a bite, too. Why?

Well, as the article points out "consumerization" (which Gartner predicted back in 2005 as the most significant IT trend for next decade) has helped. I think that getting people familiar with Apple technology at home has helped it to get carried into the workplace. And why not, with Intel chips, we Apple users can run Windows and all the favorite Windows applications if we need to at work.

As far as I'm concerned, there’s no reason not to go Apple for many (if not all) companies. Hey, they can even play well with their Windows and Linux brethren. Can't we all just get along?
