Following news of Apple's link up with Google-owned YouTube, U.K. record company EMI has shaken hands with the video-sharing website in a landmark deal.

The deal with YouTube allow its users to access videos by EMI artists, such as The Rolling Stones and Coldplay.

All four of the world's major music firms are now committed YouTube partners.

While the record companies and iTunes creator Apple jump into bed with YouTube, U.S. entertainment giant Viacom Media is still suing YouTube for US$1 billion for alleged copyright abuses.

"We're excited to add EMI Music's stellar roster of artists' content to our site and make it available to our community," said Chad Hurley, chief executive of YouTube.

Additionally, EMI and YouTube are to work together to develop ways in which EMI-owned recordings can be incorporated into user-generated content by YouTubers.
